FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: First Half Sinks Mounties in 84-77 Loss at East Stroudsburg – Uhrich Records 13th Double-Double of Season

EAST STROUDSBURG – Mansfield’s Jess Uhrich scored 25 points and recorded her 13th double-double of the season but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome a torrid shooting night by East Stroudsburg in a 84-77 loss in a PSAC East contest at Koehler Fieldhouse Monday night.

The game was a key PSAC East matchup between the second place Mountaineers and the first place Warriors who were undefeated in conference play.

East Stroudsburg took a 13-6 lead after the first five minutes of the game and built it to 25-10 on a 3-pointer by Alyssa Antolick at the 11:20 mark.

East Stroudsburg maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the first half taking a 42-31 lead into halftime.

East Stroudsburg hit 59% of their first half shots with Antolick coming off the bench to score 19 first half points on 7-11 shooting from the floor.

East Stroudsburg would build its lead to 51-35 four minutes into the second half before the Mountaineers slowly started to work themselves back into the game. Trailing 62-50 midway through the second half, Mansfield would go on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to cut the score to 62-57 on a jumper by freshman Merissa Gaeta with 7:31 to play, but could pull no closer.

Uhrich recorded her fifth straight double-double hitting on 10-13 from the floor while pulling down a game high 10 rebounds. It was her 13th double-double of the season and the 30th of her career. Mallory Hafer scored 17 points, hitting 4-6 on 3-point attempts. Hafer in now three shy of tying Jill Masker (61 – 1997-98) for the most 3-point field goals in a season. Courtney Brooks scored 14 points with three steals while Clarissa Correll added 11 points off the bench.

Antolick scored a game-high 33 points to lead East Stroudsburg 5-0, 16-2) with Monika Fogelsanter and Jackie Yadrisevits scoring 16 points each.

Mansfield falls to 3-2 in the PSAC East and 10-9 overall. The Mountaineers will return home to host Bloomsburg this Wednesday evening starting at 5:30 p.m. at Decker Gym.
