FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie women’s second half comeback falls short in 70-62 loss to ESU

Mansfield  -- Jess Uhrich scored 31 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in her final appearance at Decker Gym but it would be enough as the Mansfield University women dropped a 70-62 decision to East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East game at Decker Gymnasium Wednesday night.

Mansfield struggled in the first half and East Stroudsburg Jackie Yandrisevits scored 21 of her game high 33 in the first half giving East Stroudsburg a 41-21 halftime advantage.

But the Mountaineers rallied in the second half closing the gap 62-57 with 1:25 to play on a pair of Clarissa Correll free throws but could pull no closer.

Courtney Brooks had 11 points for Mansfield with Maryellen Onofre adding 15 points for East Stroudsburg.

The Mountaineers need to win at Bloomsburg in the final game of the regular season on Saturday or Kutztown has to lose to East Stroudsburg on Friday night for Mansfield to earn the fourth and final spot in the PSAC playoffs.
