RELEASE DATE: 1/07/07 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mallory Hafer Heating up for Mansfield University -- Ties Single Game 3-point Mark Against California
MANSFIELD – Former Athens High School standout Mallory Hafer has been heating it up lately for the Mansfield University women’s basketball team. The sophomore guard has been on fire the last three games, averaging 16.0 points per game over that span while hitting 53.3% of her shots from the floor. Hafer has proved to be particularly effective from long-distance, connecting on 14-24 three-point attempts over the past three games. She tied the school record with seven treys at California last Saturday, the second most in a game in the PSAC this season. Hafer, who made 202 three-pointers during her career at Athens including 98 her senior season which was the most by any female or male basketball player in Pennsylvania that season, has starred in all 12 game this season for the Mountaineers. She ranks second on the team in scoring (10.8 ppg) making a team best 34 three-pointers. Hafer is also averaging 3.8 rebounds per game while dishing out 19 assists. The Mountaineers are 5-7 on the season and coming off a grueling six-game road trip. They open the PSAC East season this Wednesday evening when they host Millersville at 5:30 p.m. in Decker Gymnasium.
