RELEASE DATE: 12/30/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Drop Fourth Straight -- Fall 73-67 at GBC WILMINGTON, DE – Jessica Uhrich and Courtney Brooks each recorded 19 points against Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon but it would not be enough as the Mountaineers dropped their fourth straight falling 73-67. Things started off on the wrong foot for the Mountaineers as they missed their first five shots and committed three turnovers as Goldey-Beacom ran out to a 10-0 lead after the first five minutes of play. Goldey-Beacom held on to a nine point lead until a 3-pointer from Courtney Brooks ignited a 14-0 run for the Mountaineers as Mansfield took a 19-14 lead with 5:26 to play in the half. Goldey responded with a 12-0 run of their own to regain the lead 26-19 with just under 3:00 before the half. They would build their lead to 15 taking a 39-24 advantage into the intermission. The second half opened with another 14-0 run by Goldey-Beacom to increase their lead to 29 at 53-24 with just under 18:00 to play. The 29 point deficit proved to be too large as Mansfield attempted a comeback. The Mounties, who outscored Goldey-Beacom 43-34 in the second half fell six points shy at the buzzer dropping their fourth straight by a score of 73-67. Courtney Brooks led the Mountaineers with a career-high 19 points while Jessica Uhrich also added 19 points. Mallory Hafer had 16 points including four 3-pointers and Brittany Reed added seven points. Cherrise Graham led all scorers with a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds for Goldey-Beacom. Mansfield shot a dismal 28.8% from the field while Goldey-Beacom was a slight bit better at 33.8% from the field. The Mountaineers held a slight advantage on rebounds at 37-36. With the loss, Mansfield falls to 5-5 on the season while Goldey-Beacom improves to 6-4. The Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday, January 3rd when they travel to Dowling College for a 5:00pm tip-off.
