FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ALISON TAGLIAFERRI NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SCHOOL RECORD NINTH TIME

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University senior standout Alison Tagliaferri (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in the week ending 2/19/06.

Tagliaferri recorded one of the most impressive weeks in her impressive career by leading Mansfield to wins over Bloomsburg and Kutztown. The 6-1 center averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting a remarkable 63% (17-27) from the floor.

Perhaps as impressive were he seven assists, five blocked shots and five steals while turning the ball over just four times in 71 minutes. Despite being ill for both games, Tagliaferri was the game leading scorer in both contest and recorded her 25^th career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Bloomsburg. In a victory at division leading Kutztown, Tagliaferri shot 80% from the floor (8-10) while dishing out a season best five assists. The victories put Mansfield in a position to clinch the school’s first ever PSAC playoff berth with a win in the last week of the season or a West Chester loss.

For the season, Tagliaferri ranks second in the PSAC in scoring averaging 16.9 points per game. She is also fourth in the conference in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and ranks ninth in field goal percentage (48.4%) and10th in blocked shots (1.24 bpg).

With two more regular season games remaining in her career, Tagliaferri has scored a school record 1,749 points averaging 15.6 points per game in 112 career contest. She has scored in double figures 102 times.

It marks the third time this season and school record ninth time in her career Tagliaferri has earned PSAC East Player of the Week honors.
