FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Late Scoring Drought Sends Mounties to 50-45 Loss To Kutztown – Tagliaferri Records Double-Double

Mansfield – Alison Tagliaferri recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, but the Mountaineers went into a late scoring drought in dropping a 50-45 decision to Kutztown in a PSAC East contest at Decker Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 22-20 at halftime the Mountaineers would go 18-8 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half taking a 38-30 advantage on a 3-pointer by Mallory Hafer at the 9:26 mark.

But the Mountaineers went ice cold from the field and were held scoreless over the next six minutes while Kutztown went on a 16-2 run for a 48-40 lead with 1:48 to play.

Mansfield clawed its way back into the game cutting the lead to 48-45 on another Hafer 3-pointer with :27 left but could pull no closer.

It marked the second straight game the Mountaineers had trouble shooting, hitting just 31.5% of their shots from the floor.

Tagliaferri was the only Mountaineer in double figures with freshman Courtney Brooks scoring eight points and Jessica Uhrich seven.

Trish Dudeck scored 11 points for Kutztown (12-6. 4-0) with Mercedes Van wagner adding nine points and 11 rebounds.

Mansfield  falls into a tie with East Stroudsburg for third place in the PSAC East with a 2-2 conference mark and will travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.
