FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Taglaiferri Named PSAC East Player of the Week for a Record Eighth Time

Mansfield – Mansfield University senior standout Alison Tagliaferri (Linden/Jersey Shore) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in Mountaineers historic wins over Millersville and West Chester.

It marks the second time this season Tagliaferri has earned PSAC East Player of the Week honors and a school record eighth time during her exceptional career.

Tagliaferri averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds during the week for the first place Mountaineers, connecting on 51.9% (14-27) of her attempts from the floor and 85.7% (12-14) on free throws. She also recorded two assists, two blocks and two steals.

Tagliaferri recorded her 21st career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to break a 30-game losing streak against Millersville, scoring the game winning basket with 2.4 seconds remaining. She scored a game high 18 points in the win over West Chester, marking the first Mountaineer win at Hollinger Fieldhouse since 1983. Tagliaferri also became the first player in the programs  history to surpass the 1,600 point mark with 1,608 in her career.

For the season, Tagliaferri ranks second in the PSAC in scoring (17.4 ppg), 6th in rebounding (8.9 rpg), 12th in blocked shots (16) and 14th in field goal percentage (46.9%).

The Mountaineers are 7-9 overall and currently tied with Kutztown for first place in the PSAC East with a 2-0 record. They travel to Bloomsburg on Wednesday before hosting Kutztown on Saturday afternoon.
