RELEASE DATE: 12/05/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MU’s Jessica Uhrich Named PSAC East Player of the Week – Junior Earns Second Player of the Week Selection Averaging 20.0 Points Per Game MANSFIELD – Mansfield University standout Jessica Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) has been selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in the week ending 12/04. Uhrich had an exceptional week in two close road loss to PSAC West foes. The junior forward averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds over the two game span with two blocks and three steals. She connected on 58.6% of her shots from the field (17-29) including 5-7 (71.4%) of her 3-point tries. Uhrich scored a career best 26 points with nine rebounds in a four point loss to Edinboro. It marks the second time in three weeks Uhrich has earned PSAC East Player of the Week honors. She was named PSAC East Player on the Week for the first week of the season. The Mountaineers have swept the first three PSAC East Player of the Week awards this season with senior Alison Tagliaferri being named last week. It is the fourth time in her career Uhrich has earned PSAC East Player of the Week honors after being selected twice last season. For the season, the junior forward is averaging 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Uhrich also tops the team in 3-point shooting percentage (6-13, 46.2%) with eight steals and five blocked shots over the first six games of the season. The Mountaineers are 4-2 on the season and travel to Mercyhurst on Dec. 16.
