FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TAGLIAFERRI AND UHRICH COMBINE FOR 35 BUT FALL 89-67 TO CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY

MANSFIELD – California opened the game with a 14-0 run and Mansfield was forced to play from behind. The Vulcans press defense and fast paced offense pulled away to a 49-28 halftime lead -- The Mountaineers would never catch up.

The Mountaineers' were led by senior Alison Tagliaferri who finished the game 7 of 9 from the field with a team high 18 points -- her 18th consecutive game scoring in double figures and the 51st time in her last 52 games she has accomplished this feat.

Junior Jessica Uhrich finished with 17 points shooting 7 for 13 from the field with one three-pointer. Uhrich also had a team high six rebounds.

Freshman Courtney Brooks finished with a career high nine points and added five assits.

The Vulcans fast paced offense shot 62.3% from the field and 57.1% from the three-point line. California was led by Keris Timol who shot 10 of 13 from the field and 4 of 5 from behind the arc.

Brehane Dillon shot a perfect 6 of 6 from the field, 1 of 1 from behind the arc, and 2 of 2 from the charity stripe to finish with 15 points and nine assists.

April Smith was 6 of 9 from the field finishing with 13 points for the Vulcans.

The Mountaineers are back in action tomorrow night at 5:30 pm when they host Shippensburg University in a PSAC crossover contest at Decker Gymnasium.
