RELEASE DATE: 2/7/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JESSICA UHRICH NAMED PSAC EAST CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SECOND TIME THIS SEASON SOPHOMORE EARNS HONOR MANSFIELD – Jessica Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Co-Player of the Week for her outstanding performance ending 2/5/05. She shared the honor with Millersville’s Kristy Garner. The 5-10 forward recorded a pair of double-doubles while averaging 20.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game during the week. She connected on a remarkable 62.1% (18-29) of her shots from the floor. Uhrich scored a game high 20 points with 11 rebounds against East Stroudsburg and followed that up with a game high 21 points and 13 rebounds in a win at Cheyney on Saturday. It marks the second time this season Uhrich has earned PSAC Player of the Week honors after capturing the award in 12/13/04. For the season, Uhrich is averaging 10.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting a team best 47.8% from the floor. She ranks 8th in the PSAC in rebounds, ninth in blocked shots (20) and 12th in field goal percentage. It marks the fourth time a Mansfield University player has won Player of the Week honors this season. The Mountaineers will open the second half of the PSAC East season when they host Millersville this Wednesday evening. |
