FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LATE RUN BY 10TH RANK CAL SINKS MANSFIELD WOMEN – TAGLIAFERRI AND SCORDINO SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES

CALIFORNIA, PA – Alison Tagliaferri scored 13 points and Laura Scordino added 11 but it would not be enough as Mansfield fell to 10th ranked California 71-46 in a PSAC crossover contest at Hammer Hall Tuesday night.

California jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 17-6 before the Mountaineers battled back into the contest.  Beginning with a Tagliaferri bucket with12:20 left in the opening half, Mansfield cut Calıs lead to six points on three occasions before going to the locker room down 34-25 at the break.

Tagliaferri led Mansfieldıs charge early in the second half. The
Mountaineers cut Calıs lead to four points (46-42) on a Jessica Uhrich bucket with 11:51 left. 

But the defending NCAA Division II National Champions went on a 25-4 run behind All-American Sara McKinney over the final 11 minutes of the game to pull out the victory.

Uhrich added nine points with 10 rebounds for Mansfield.

McKinney led California (6-2) with a game high 18 points.

The Mountaineers fall to 5-3 overall and travel to Shippensburg tomorrow.
