FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY DEFEATS MANSFIELD 79-57 -- TWO MOUNTIES IN DOUBLE FIGURES

WEST CHESTER- Alison Tagliaferri scored a game high 18 points, but it would not be enough as West Chester University defeated Mansfield University 79-57 in a PSAC East game at Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon. 

West Chester used long distance shooting, hitting 7-of-9 3-pointers in the first half to take a 39-25 lead at intermission. 

Mansfield came out strong to start the second half, going on 12-3 run over the first five minutes – eight of which were scored by Tagliaferri -- to close the gap to 42-37 with 14:45 left to play.

After calling a timeout, West Chester put together a 10-2 run of their own. The Mountaineers would never challenge for the lead again.

West Chester held a 43-28 advantage in rebounds.

Stephanie Rieser had 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists for Mansfield.  Rieser is 20 points shy of becoming the 10^th Mountaineer to reach the 1,000 point milestone.

Justine Pfaff led the Golden Rams with 17 points. 

Mansfield will travel to Bloomsburg University on Wednesday, February 16^th for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
