FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FALL TO BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY 66-54 IN PSAC EAST MATCH-UP

BLOOMSBURG- Laura Scordino scored 18 points, but it would not be enough as Bloomsburg University defeated Mansfield University 66-54 in a PSAC East match-up at Nelson Fieldhouse Wednesday evening.

Bloomsburg took the lead early, leading by as much as ten with 8:25 left to play in the first half.  The Mounties would make a strong comeback and brought the game within two with a score of 29-26 with 1:13 left in the half on a lay-up and free throw by Alison Tagliaferri.  Bloomsburg held a 31-27 lead at intermission. 

The Huskies started the second half with an 8-2 run, going up 39-29 with 18:15 left to play.  Mansfield closed the gap to 49-46 with 8:56 left in the game on a lay-up by Scordino.  But Meggi Rothermel hit one of her five 3-pointers thirty seconds later to end any Mountaineer comeback.

Bloomsburg held a 47-38 advantage in rebounds. 

Tagliaferri scored 15 points and had five rebounds for Mansfield.  She is just ten points shy of becoming the 2nd leading scorer in school history. 

Bloomsburg was led by Meggi Rothermel who had a game high 23 points. 

Mansfield will host Kutztown University Saturday February 19th for a 1:00 p.m. PSAC East contest.
