FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIE WOMEN SWEEP PSAC WEEKLY AWARDS – TAGLIAFERRI NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF WEEK AND ESPIGH SELECTED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

LOCK HAVEN – Alison Tagliaferri (Linden/Jersey Shore) was named PSAC East Player of the Week and teammate Alicia Espigh (Lewistown/Lewistown) was selected PSAC East Rookie of the Week for the outstanding performances in the week ending 12/05.

Tagliaferri averaged a double-double in two games during the week averaging 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. She also blocked four shots, had three steals and dished out two assists. Against Edinboro on Saturday, Tagliaferri scored a game high 20 points and pulled down a season best 15 rebounds along with three blocked shots, two steals and two assists.

A junior, Tagliaferri also reached the 1,000 point milestone early in the Edinboro game, achieving the milestone in less games than any other player in school history. She now has 1,026 points in her career, ninth best in school history. For the season, Tagliaferri is averaging 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Espigh came off the bench to average 13.5 points over the two game span. The sharp shooting guard connected on 9-of-17 shots from the floor (52.9%) including 5-of-9 on 3-point attempts (55.6%). She also averaged 5.0 rebounds per game. For the season, Espigh is averaging 9.8 points per game and connecting on a team best 54.1% of her shots.

The Mountaineers are 4-2 on the season and will host Salem International on Saturday.
