FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AFTER TWO DAYS OF COMPETITION MANSFIELD SWIMMING IS RANKED FIFTH AT THE IUP INVITATIONAL

MANSFIELD – After two days and twelve events Mansfield women’s swimming is ranked fifth at the IUP Invitational. The MU swim team has accumulated 112 points.

Day one, November 21^st, Mansfield scored points with two fifth place finishes in relay events. Katie Houck, Diana Daniel, Daniella Borrelli, and Andrea Popovic swam the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:47.13.  With a time of 14:27.83, Abbe Tipton, Katie Houck, Daniella Borrelli, and Andrea Popovic swam the 400 yard medley relay. Andrea Popovic also managed to score Mansfield points with a ninth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.

On Day two, November 22^nd, Mansfield continued to score points. Again Mansfield had two fifth place finishes in relays. Tipton, Houck, Borrelli, and Popovic finished with a time of 2:00.94 in the 200 yard medley relay. Mansfield also finished fifth in the 800 yard freestyle relay when Popovic, Borrelli, Tipton, and Houck finished with a time of 8:35.94. In the 400 yard IM Popovic finished third with a time of 5:09.69, giving Mansfield 12 points. Tipton’s fifth place finish in the 100 yard backstroke brought in ten points for Mansfield. Borrelli finished ninth in the 100 yard butterfly and Houck finished twelfth in the 200 yard freestyle event.

Mansfield will be competing tomorrow, the last day, at the IUP Invitational.
