FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  MANSFIELD TAKES PART IN EAST STROUDSBURG INVITATIONAL

EAST STROUDSBURG- Sophomore Andrea Popovic (Novi Sad,Yugoslavia) finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle event at the East Stroudsburg Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Popovic finished the 1000 yard freestyle event with a time of 11:38.07.  She also finished third in the 100-yard butterfly event.

Mansfield had another first place finish with freshmen Abbe Tipton (Elmira) finishing the 200-yard backstroke event with a time of 2:18.32, qualifying for the PSAC Championship. She is the only Mountaineer swimmer to qualify in two events for the PSAC Championship after earlier qualifying in the 100 back.

Fellow freshman Daniella Borrelli (Vestal) took second place in the 100-yard butterfly event with a time of 1:05.10.

Freshman Eileen Spellman (Wilkes-Barre) and sophomore Charity Learn (Troy) finished in second and third place respectively in the 500-yard freestyle event with times of 5:49.20 and 6:06.88.
