FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: VANESSA MCELWEE AND ANDREA POPOVIC FIRST PLACE FINISHERS AT MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY

MANSFIELD- Vanessa McElwee and Andrea Popovic both had first place finishes, but that would not be enough as the Mansfield University swim team was defeated 172-80 at Millersville University Saturday afternoon. 

McElwee’s first place finish came in the 100 yard freestyle (:59.15) while Popovic finished first in the 500 yard freestyle (5:46.14) and second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:08.73). 

Other top finishers for the Mountaineers were: Kristine Van Duzer with a second place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:19.54), Abbe Tipton with a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.61), Stephanie Klegarth with a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.27), and Maureen Maikner with a second place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:46.62). 

Mansfield’s final home meet of the 2004-2005 season will be against Wells College January 24^th at 6:00 p.m.
