FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Abbe Tipton Fifth in 100 Back at IUP Invitational -- Mountie Women in Fourth Place

INDIANA, PA -- Abbe Tipton finished fifth in the 100 backstroke to help the Mansfield University women's remain in fourth place in the team standings after the second day of competition at the IUP Invitational Saturday night.

Tipton swam a PSAC qualifying time of 1:02.90 in the Mountaineers highest individual finish of the day. Mary Tucker was 14th (1:14.13) and Samantha Kutskel 15th (1:18.62).

Freshman Amanda Oechler placed sixth in the 400 IM with a time of 5:13.11 with Tricia Learn coming in eighth at 5:11.17.

Maureen Maikner took 9th in the 100 breast (1:17.18) followed by Oechler (10th, 1:17.45) and Sarah Koontz (12th, 1:19.41).

Maikner was also 10th in the 100 fly (1:05.64) and Tamar Maloney 14th (1:08.59).

The 200 medley relay team of Tipton Oechler, Maikner and Maloney was fourth with a time of 2:00.99.
