RELEASE DATE: 11/17/06 INDIANA, PA -- Freshman Tamar Maloney led the way with a fifth place finish in the 50 freestyle to help the Mansfield University women's swim team to fourth place in team scoring after the first day of the IUP Invitational Friday. Maloney posted a mark of 26.50 to post the highest individual place for a Mansfield swimmer. Fellow freshman Amanda Oechler was seventh in the 200 IM (2:20.73) with Tricia Learn (15th, 2:26.66) and Abbe Tipton (16th, 2:26.90) also earned team points in the event. Learn was also 15th in the 500 free (5:45.18) with teammate Mary Tucker 16th (5:46.56). The team of Maloney, Learn, Sarah Koontz and Tipton finished fourth in the 200 free relay (1:47.12) with the 400 medley relay team of Tipton, Oechler, Maureen Maikner and Maloney taking fourth in the 400 medlay. Mansfield has compiled 94 team points after the first day. IUP is in first place with 296 points. |
