FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tipton Finishes Seventh in 100 Backstroke

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Mountaineer senior Abbe Tipton scored 12 individual points with a seventh place finish in the 100 yard backstroke on day three of the PSAC Swimming Championships hosted by Shippensburg University.

The senior leader of the Mountie swim team finished the event in 1:01.44 and earned the first individual team points for the Mountaineers in the 2006-07 Championships.

Tipton later joined with Amanda Oechler, Maureen Maikner, and Tamar Maloney in the 200 yard medley relay where the Mountaineer women finished 13th with a time of 1:57.68 and picked up eight team points.

The Mountaineer women currently sit 13th in the team standings with 38 points. West Chester maintains a commanding lead with 560 points while Clarion continues to chase in second place with 386 points.

The Mountaineer women will finish out the PSAC Championships tomorrow afternoon at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA. Check back tomorrow evening for complete results and recap.
