FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TIPTON FINISHES SECOND IN 100 BACKSTROKE AT IUP INVITATIONAL

INDIANA, PA – Abbe Tipton (Elmira,NY/EFA) was the biggest highlight for the Mansfield University women’s swimming team with a second place finish in the 100 backstroke during the second of three days of competition at the IUP Invitational Saturday.

Tipton, who finished with a time of 1:02.32,  was edged by IUP’s Luci Plaxton’s winning time of 1:01.69.

Other Mountaineers earning team points were Stephanie Klegarth with a seventh place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with season best time of 1:10.95. Maureen Maikner was 11^th in the 100 yard fly with a season best time of 1:04.82.

Freshman Tricia Learn was 14^th in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.48.

The 200 medley relay team of Tipton, Stepanie Klegarth, Maikner and Daniella Borrelli was seventh (1:58.63).
