FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountaineer Swimmers Send Young and Promising Roster to PSAC Championships

The Mansfield University Swim Team looks to improve on their 13th place finish in the conference last year this week when they travel to the PSAC Conference Championships at Clarion University.

Last year, the Mountie swimmers totaled 66 points -- all off of relays -- to finish 13th at the championships. Mansfield will send six athletes to the meet this year in hopes of scoring points with individual and relay performances.

Of the six members traveling to the PSAC meet, four of them have experience with the championship setting as last season Daniella Borreilli, Abbe Tipton, Stephanie Klegarth, and Maureen Maikner competed in the conference meet. Tipton and Klegarth competed in individual as well as relay events.

Joining those four women are two newcomers in freshmen Tricia Learn and Mary Tucker.

The outlook is promising for Mansfield swimmers as all six of these women may return next year with the oldest being Borreilli and Tipton who are both juniors.

The PSAC Championships begin on Wednesday this week and carry through the weekend with final results posted Saturday evening.
