FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FINISH SECOND IN SEASON OPENING MEET

ALTOONA – Sophomore Abbe Tipton won the 100 backstoke in an opening season tri-meet with Penn State-Altoona and California Saturday afternoon in Altoona.

Mansfield beat Penn State-Altoona 102-9 and was edged 63-54 by California.

Tipton won the 100 backstoke with an impressive early season time of 1:04.93. She also finished second in the 200 back with a time of 2:51.40.

Junior Andrea Popovic also swam well finishing second in the 500 free  (5:59.40) and 1000 free (17:15.78).

Also placing for the Mountaineers were freshman Stephanie Klegarth who finished second in the 200 breast (2:51.40) and third in the 100 breast (1:18.02).

Freshman Maureen Maikner took second in the 100 fly (1:07.95) and third in the 200 fly (2:36.90). 

Daniella Borrelli was third in the 100 free (1:01.50) with Kristine Van Duzer taking third in the 1000 free (12:36.12).

The Mountaineers will host the Mansfield Relays this Saturday in Decker Pool.
