FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIE SWIMMERS FALL TO LOCK HAVEN 102-89

LOCK HAVEN – Abbe Tipton (Elmira,NY/EFA) won the won the 200 backstroke and Stephanie Klegarth (Allentown/Dieruff) took first in the 200 breaststroke, but it wouldn’t be enough as Mansfield was edged 102-89 in a PSAC women’s swim meet at Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon.

Tipton’s winning time of 2:21.66 was more than four seconds faster than the second place finisher. Vanessa McElwee (Souderton/Souderton) was third with a time of 2:29.74.

Tipton also finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:26.95 while Kelgarth won the 200 breast with a time of 2:40.16 over teammate Melissa Recchiuti (West Chester/Henderson) who finished second at 2:59.90.

Also finishing second for the Mountaineers were Daniella Borrelli (Vestal,NY/Vestal) in the 50 free (27.04) and Diana Daniel (Rochester,NY/Brighton) in the 100 free (1:03.86). Andrea Popovic (Novi Sad, Yugoslavia) was third in the 1000  (11:49.21) and the 500 free (5:44.95).
