FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SWIM PAST KING’S 119-59 – MU WINS 10 OF 12 EVENTS

WILKES-BARRE – Freshman Vanessa McElwee won the 200 freestyle and the 100 back to help Mansfield to a 119-59 win at King’s College in women’s swimming Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineers won 10 of the 12 events in the meet with seven different swimmers winning events. McElwee finished the 200 free in a time of 2:12.47 with Kelsey Hogan taking second with a time of 2:19.26. McElwee also sprinted to victory in the 100 back with a time of 1:07.16 and was also a member of the winning 200 IM  and 200 free relays.

Also earning first place finishes were Stephanie Klegarth in the 400 IM (5:11.97), Maureen Maikner in the 100 fly (1:05.72),  Andrea Popovic in the 500 free (5:47.58), Daniella Borelli in the 50 free (27.32), Abbe Tipton in the 100 free (1:01.06) and Kristine Vanduzer in the 1000 free (12:23.00).

The second place finishers for Mansfield were Hogan in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:19.26, Popovic in the 400 yard IM with a time of 5:14.75, and Vandurzer in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:18.68. 

Mansfield University will travel to IUP December 3-5 for their next meet.
