FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield beats Princeton 28-3 for first sprint football win

PRINCETON, NJ –  Mansfield pounded out 246 rushing yards including 71-yards from freshman Taylor Floyd (Halifax, PA/Halifax Area) to beat Princeton 28-3 at Princeton Stadium Friday night. 

It is Mansfield's first-ever sprint win and the first win for the Mountaineer football program since beating Cheyney in 2005.

Mansfield trailed 3-0 until Lucas Bailey (Canton, PA/Canton) scored on a four-yard run with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter. Michael Steele (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) added to the scoreboard with the extra-point kick that gave Mansfield a 7-3 lead.

Mansfield increased the lead to 14-3 later in the quarter on a dazzling 41-yard run by Floyd  and went out to a 21-3 lead when quarterback Danny Moss (Anchorage, AK/Dimond) hit Matt Gant (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) with a nine-yard scoring pass with 2:21 remaining in the third quarter.

The Mountaineers got the game’s final scored on a 7-yard run by Paul Frederick (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) with 1:39 remaining in the game.

Mansfield out gained Princeton 375-217 in total offense and held the Tigers to just 29 rushing yards.

Moss completed 10-of-20 passes for 105-yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 45 yards. Bailey had 58-yards on 13 rushes.

The Mansfield defense had an impressive game sacking Princeton quarterback Andrew Dixon five times including three by freshman Cody Croasdale (Nicholson, PA/Lackawanna Trail)The defense also had four interceptions on the night.

Mansfield improves to 1-2 in CSFL play and travels to Cornell next Friday night.
