RELEASE DATE: 10/03/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Penn remains undefeated in CSFL with 49-0 win over Mansfield PHILADELPHIA – Penn used its league leading offense and a stifling defense to roll to a 49-0 win over a young Mansfield team in a CSFL game at historic Franklin Field Friday night. Penn could do little wrong and Mansfield could do little right in the first half as the Quakers jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead behind the accurate arm of sophomore Todd Busler and the strong legs of Mike Bagnoli. Bagnoli scored the game’s first touchdown on a 4-yard run with 5:04 in the first quarter and added another TD run, this one for 14-yards four minutes. Mansfield could do little offensively, managing just one first down in the first half. The Mountaineers did drive inside the Penn 20-yard line late in the second half set up by a interception by freshman Michael Shields but turned the ball over on downs. Busler added another touchdown on a 18-yard run on the first possession of the second half to increase the score to 42-0. Tyler Floyd's 25-yard run into Penn territory to start Mansfield’ possession but the drive ended with an interception. Bagnoli scored his third touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run with just under six minutes left in the third quarter. Mansfield falls to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the CSFL. The Mountaineers will host Navy for Homecoming next Saturday. Statistics unavailable due to a computer malfunction.
