MILLERSVILLE – JACLYN LASKOWSKI BLAST TWO HOME RUNS
MILLERSVILLE – Jaclyn Laskowski (Olyphant/Mid Valley)
blasted two home runs and drove in five runs and Alison Tagliaferri
(Linden/Jersey Shore) scatted three hits while striking out eight
batters to lead Mansfield University to a 10-0 over Millersville in the opening
game of a PSAC East doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Pucillo Field. Millersville
won the second game 5-3.
Laskowski drilled a three run home run in the top of the
first inning to give the Mountaineers all the runs they would need in the
opener. She also led off the fifth inning with a solo shot while Jes
Ricker (Shillington/Governor Mifflin) added a three run home run in the
sixth.
Alison Tagliaferri started and picked up her fourth win of
the season allowing just three hits and striking out eight in five innings. She
was relieved by Liz Lyons (Harpursville,NY/Windsor) in the sixth
and Kristy Duncan (Wall,NJ/Wall) in the seventh for the combined
shutout. Laskowski was 3-3 with two home runs and five rbi’s while Ricker went
3-4 with a home run, double and three rbi’s.
In the nightcap, freshman Kristen Dean (Roaring
Branch/Canton) allowed just four hits over five innings, but one was a
grand slam in the fourth inning.
Mansfield rallied with three runs of their own in the top of
the fourth inning on a three run home run by Alison Tagliaferri.
The Mountaineer are now 11-9 overall and 4-6 in the PSAC
East. They host Millersville on Monday in a double header at Helen Lutes Field
starting at 3 p.m.
