FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIE SOFTBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER AT KUTZTOWN – TAGLIAFERRI BELTS HOME RUN  

KUTZTOWN -- The Mansfield University softball team dropped a PSAC East doubleheader at Kutztown University 5-2, 10-6 Sunday afternoon. 

In the opener, Mansfield scored a run in the top of the first inning but Kutztown came back and scored four runs in the bottom of the third. Alison Tagliaferri hit her sixth home run of the season to lead the MU offensive attack. Four of Kutztown’s runs were unearned.  

In the nightcap, Mansfield took a 4-3 into the bottom of the sixth before Kutztown exploded for seven runs. Tagliaferri started on the mound and struck out nine in 5.1 innings pitched. Nancy Quinn, Kriss Kelly and Shannon McDonnell each had two hits for the Mountaineers with Kelly blasting her fifth home run of the season. Kristy Loomis also homered and had three RBI.  

Mansfield falls to 18-16 overall and 11-13 in the PSAC East.
