RELEASE DATE: 4/05/10 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Nicole Yost one shy of tying career home run mark MANSFIELD – Mansfield University junior left fielder Nicole Yost (Antes Fort/Jersey Shore) is one shy of tying the Mountaineer career home run record. Yost has hit six home runs over her first 18 games this season to move into a tie with former Mountaineer standout Alison Tagliferri for second place on the all-time career home run list with 17 round trippers. She trails Jackie Laskowski, who along with Tagliaferri played from 2002-05, by one home run. Laskowski hit 18 home runs during the course of her career including a school-record nine during the 2003 season. Yost tied that single season record with nine home runs of her own last season. Yost will have a shot to tie or beat the record at home this week when the Mountaineers host Clarion in a doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Helen Lutes Field. Mansfield also hosts Bowie State in a twinbill on Thursday starting at 1 p.m. The Clarion doubleheader was rescheduled for earlier this season.
