FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Softball Drops Two at Patriot Invitational Sunday

Florence, SC – The Mansfield University softball dropped a pair of games at the Patriot Invitational Sunday morning in Florance, SC losing to Augusta State 4-1 and 9-0 to Coker College.

The Mountaineers scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the seventh in the opener on a RBI double by Jess Christ (Dover/Dover) who went 2-3 in the game. Shelly Forsburg (Vestal,NY/Vestal) took the loss striking out four batters in four innings before relieved by Lindsay Knapp (Millerton).

Kristina Poore (Matamoras/Delaware Valley)  had two of Mansfield’s four hits against Coker with Whitney Brown (Troy/Troy) taking the loss.

Mansfield travels to Savannah, GA today and will play Haverford and Bluefield state in the SCAD Spring Break Tournament on Tuesday.
