FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SWEEP MILLERSVILLE TO IMPROVE TO 17-4 ON THE SEASON – TRICIA BAILEY AND ALISON TAGLIAFERRI HIT FIRST HOME RUNS OF THE SEASON

MILLERSVILLE- Tricia Bailey and Alison Tagliaferri each hit their first home run of the season to lead Mansfield University to a 6-5 and 4-3 sweep over Millersville University in PSAC East action Tuesday afternoon at Pucillo Field. 

In the opener, the Mountaineers took the lead early with Bailey hitting a two run home run in the top of the second inning.  Tagliaferri hit a lead off home run in the top of the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.  Stacey Dean kept the rally going in the fourth hitting a double to bring in the Mounties fourth run.  Alexis Drebitko scored on a wild pitch to take a 5-0 lead. 

The Marauders rallied for five runs to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, but it would not be enough as Sytiva Seitz hit a two out double in the top of the sixth to bring in the winning run. 

Tagliaferri went 2-3 with a home run and a double, Heather Long went 2-2 with two doubles and two runs scored, Bailey went 1-3 with a home run, and Drebitko went 2-4 with one run scored. 

Tagliaferri picked up her second win of the season on the mound for the Mounties with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.  

Bailey went 3-3 in the nightcap to lead Mansfield to a 4-3 win over Millersville. 

Seitz hit a three run double in the top of the second to give Mansfield a 3-0 lead.  Bailey singled up the middle to bring in the winning run in the top of the fourth inning.

Amy Martino earned her sixth win of the season, striking out six batters in 6.2 innings on the mound for the Mountaineers. 

Mansfield improves to 17-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the PSAC East.
