FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: OMARI PEARSON NAMED PSAC EAST CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SENIOR EARN HONOR FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS SEASON

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University senior forward Omari Pearson has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the week ending 1/18/04.

 It marks the third time this season the 6-9 Pearson has been named to PSAC East Player of the Week honors.

Pearson helped the Mountaineers to a 2-0 mark during the week with conference victories against Kutztown and at Millersville. He averaged 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds over that span including 22 points and a season high 17 rebounds against Kutztown.

For the season, Pearson leads the PSAC in both scoring (19.9 ppg) and rebounding (11.8 rpg). In addition, he ranks in the top ten in the conference in field goal percentage (.537) and free throw percentage (.833).

The Mountaineers are 15-2 overall and top the PSAC East with a 2-0 mark. They travel to Bloomsburg on Wednesday and Cheyney on Saturday.
