For IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FORMER MANSFIELD STANDOUT BRETT LONGPRE' SIGNS TO PLAY FOR NIAGARA GAMBLERS OF THE OPBA

Brett Longpre' (Governor Simcoe,Welland, Ont), recently signed to play for the Niagara Gamblers of the Ontario Professional Basketball Association (OPBA). Longpre', a 2004 graduate of Mansfield University completed his career as the second leading scorer in school history and was a four time all-conference player at Mansfield. 

This past season he ranked fourth in the PSAC in scoring (16.6 ppg) while ranking first in the conference in 3-point field goals per game (2.96) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (42.6%). He also ranked second in the PSAC in free throw shooting percentage (89.1%).

Longpre' ranks second in school history in career scoring (1,765), first in 3-point field goals made (301) and is the only player in school history to score more than 1,700 points while pulling down more than 500 rebounds.

The OPBA is in its first year of existence and features former NBA players Acie Earl (Toronto Raptors) and Randy Livingston (LA Clippers) as well as Canadian National Team players and former Division I players.  The league is composed of seven teams in Ontario with each of the teams playing 20 regular season games in June and July.  Longpre's Gamblers play their home games at Niagara College in his hometown of Welland.  In their first game of the year on Wednesday, June 2, Longpre' led the Gamblers with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
