FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield improves to 4-0 with 103-49 win over Penn College

MANSFIELD – Cory Henneghan topped five Mountaineers in double figures with a game-high 16 points to lead Mansfield to a 103-49 win over Penn College in a men’s college basketball game Tuesday night at Decker Gymnasium.

Mansfield never trailed in the game taking a 28-9 lead on a dunk by Brandon Smith nine minutes into the game and extending that lead to 50-20 at halftime.

The Mountaineers used their starters sparingly, but got a strong performance from their bench.  Mansfield starting five of Justin Simmons, Yuseff Carr, Tony Fannick, Ryan Callahan and Chris Pender combined for just 33 points.

A freshman, Henneghan hit three 3-pointers and also pulled down five rebounds with Donny Lyons adding 15 points and five boards. Freshman Breland Roach scored 13 points and dished out a game-best five assist while Fannick and Carr scored 11 and 10 points respectively.

Mansfield shot 57% from the floor for the game and connected on 11-19 3-point attempts. The Mountaineers held a 44-20 rebounding advantage while forcing 28 turnovers.

Noah Martz led Penn College (2-4) with 10 points.

Mansfield improves to 4-0 on the season and host Mercyhurst College Monday night in Decker Gym.
