RELEASE DATE: 1/27/10 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield men drop 67-65 overtime heartbreaker at No. 22 East Stroudsburg – Yuseff Carr and Ryan Callahan combine for 46 points EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – Yuseff Carr and Ryan Callahan combined for 46 points but East Stroudsburg Robbie Pines made two free throws with five seconds left in overtime to lift No. 22 East Stroudsburg to a 67-65 win over Mansfield in a PSAC East game at Koehler Fieldhouse Wednesday night. Mansfield had the game’s last shot but Chris Pender’s potential winning 3-pointer went in and out of the cylinder as time expired. Mansfield led 53-47 when Callahan hit layup with just under seven minutes to go but East Stroudsburg rallied to tie the game at 55-55 minutes later. East Stroudsburg took a 59-57 lead with just under two minutes to play before Mansfield tied the score on a layup by Derrison Anthony with 39 seconds left sending the game into overtime. In overtime East Stroudsburg (17-1, 4-1 PSAC East) held a 65-63 lead with 1:36 to play on a jumper by Terrace King but a Callahan jumper 22 seconds later tied the game at 65. The scored remained tied at 65-65 until Pines connected on his two free throws with: 05 remaining of the clock. Mansfield (12-6, 3-2 PSAC East) got the ball and Pender had a clean look for a three but the ball just wouldn’t go down. Of the Mountaineers six losses this season, three of them have been by 3 or less points. The game featured 26 ties or lead changes with neither team ever leading by more than six points. Carr scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Callahan added 21 points for Mansfield. It was Carr’s eighth double-double of the season and his sixth in the last eight games. It also marked the third straight game Callahan has scored 20 or more points and the seventh time this season he has scored 20 or more points in a game. King scored 13 points to pace East Stroudsburg with Mike Tobin and Micah Covert each adding 11 points. Mansfield falls into a tie for third-place in the PSAC East with Cheyney at 3-2 while East Stroudsburg and Kutztown remain tied for first place in the PSAC East at 4-1. Mansfield host Millersville this Saturday afternoon in Decker Gymnasium.
