BOCA RATON, FL – A frigid first-half doomed Mansfield in an 86-51 loss to Barry University in the opening round of the Doubletree Guest Suites Classic at Lynn University Sunday evening.

Mansfield led 13-5 five minutes into the game on a 3-pointer by Chris Pender, but the Mountaineers would score just two points over the next 10 minutes and Barry went on a 21-2 run to take a 26-15 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. Barry extended that lead to 38-22 at halftime.

Mansfield connected on just 1-of-15 shots from the floor during that span while going 1-for-6 on free throws and turned the ball over seven times during Barry’s first half run. Mansfield on just 6-of-33 attempts from the floor in the first half.
