RELEASE DATE: 2/21/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield men drop key 91-82 decision at West Chester – loss puts Mounties in must win situation in final two games of the season WEST CHESTER – Senior Chris Greene scored 20 points but West Chester out rebounded Mansfield 48-26 in recording a 91-82 win in a key PSAC East men’s game Saturday afternoon in Hollinger Field House. The loss, Mansfield’s fourth straight, drops the Mountaineers to 6-6 in the PSAC East one game behind West Chester and into a tie with East Stroudsburg for fourth-place in the PSAC East after East Stroudsburg lost 67-64 at Cheney on Saturday. Two games remain in the regular season with the top four teams from the PSAC East and West advance to the PSAC playoffs. The game was tight in the first half with five ties and four lead changes over the first 20 minutes until West Chester (16-9, 7-5 PSAC East) took a 40-37 advantage into halftime. West Chester pulled down a remarkable 17 offensive rebounds in the first half and held a 31-15 overall rebounding margin. Mansfield (13-11, 6-6 PSAC East) took a 48-47 led five minutes into the second half on a layup by Yuseff Carr but West Chester put together a 7-0 run and maintained the lead for the remainder of the game. Mansfield pulled to 76-72 on a free throw by Ryan Callahan with three minutes to play but the Mountaineers could pull no closer. In addition to Greene’s season-high 20 points, Callahan scored 19 points and Carr 16. Kenneth St. George led West Chester with a game-high 21 points followed by Ralph Hegamin with 19 points. West Chester out rebounded Mansfield 48-26 for the game. Mansfield travels to Bloomsburg on Wednesday before closing out the regular season by hosting Millersville on Saturday.
