RELEASE DATE: 3/11/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s Tony Fannick named PSAC East Rookie of the Year – Yuseff Carr named to All-PSAC East honors MANSFIELD – Tony Fannick (Milton/Milton) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Rookie of the Year and sophomore Yuseff Carr (New York City, NY East Transit) was named to All-PSAC East second team honors in voting conducted among the division head coaches and released today. Fannick was a five-time PSAC East Freshman of the week selection this season. The freshman forward started in 16 of 27 games this season averaging 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He ranked second on the team in assists (61) and tied for the most accurate free throw shooter in the conference this season hitting 87.8% of his attempts.
Carr, also a forward, was one of the most feared players in the PSAC East this season. A starter in all 27 games, Carr led the Mountaineers in scoring 15.4 ppg), rebounds (7.7 rpg) and field goal percentage (52.8%). In addition he dished out 31 assists, blocked 28 shots and recorded 27 steals. Carr ranked 14th overall in the PSAC in scoring, 9th in rebounding, 8th in field goals percentage and 14th in blocked shots. Both Fannick and Carr will be among four returning starters next season after finishing 15-12 overall this season and earning a PSAC playoff berth with an 8-6 division mark.
