Hill put on a long distance shooting display like none other when he connected on a school and PSAC record of 13 3-pointers and scored a career high 47 points to lead Mansfield to a come –from-behind 104-93 win over Seton Hill Saturday night. “Awesome, just awesome,” said Mountaineer head coach Rich Miller. “Kevin put on a show tonight and was just unstoppable. It was a great game to watch with both teams going back and forth all night. But it was Kevin’s shooting, especially in the second half, that was the difference.” Hill’s 18 points in the first half keep Mansfield in the game as the Mountaineers trailed 53-47 at halftime. Mansfield jumped at quickly after intermission on a 3-pointer by Chris Pender and layup by Cory Boone before Hill connected on a 3-pointer to tie the score at 55-55 less than two minutes into the second half. Hill added two more 3-pointers to cap off an 18-2 run giving Mansfield a 65-55 lead at the 15:39 mark of the second half. Seton Hill rallied to retake the lead and held a 85-82 advantage on a jumper by Asa Braxton at the 7:04 mark. The game was tied 87-87 with just over five minutes to play when Hill got hot again hitting three straight 3-pointers giving Mansfield a 96-90 lead with 3:37 to go. Hill’s 13 3-pointers breaks the school record of 10 set by Barrett Jones against West Chester during the 1995 season and the PSAC record of 12 shared by Brent Kincaid of California and Damien Blair of West Chester also set in 1995. His 47 points are the second most since Jason Benson set the school record 53 points against West Virginia State in 2005. John Hampton was the only other Mountaineer in double figures with 13 points. Chris Pender had 11 rebounds while Chris Greene scored nine points with six assists. Jordan Thomas led five players in double figures for Seton Hill (0-1) with 20 points. Cody Boone, twin brother of Mansfield’s Cory Boone, had a double-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds and blocked nine shots.
