FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountaineer men improve to 6-1 with 105-56 win over Penn College – Kevin Hill tops five players in double figures with 15 points

MANSFIELD – Kevin Hill scored a game-high 15 points to lead five Mountaineers in double figures as Mansfield beat Penn College 105-56 in a non-conference men’s basketball game at Decker Gymnasium Wednesday night.

“It was a good chance for us to play everyone and we got nice games from guys like Armen Henderson, Mike Gray, and Seth Cornell,” said head coach Rich Miller.

Penn College actually led early holding a 12-8 lead on a layup by Tom Little six minutes into the game but Mansfield exploded with a 40-9 run to take a 48-21 advantage on Hill’s 3-pointer with 3:54 remaining in the first half to put the game out of reach.

Hill scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half and played just three minutes in the second half. All 15 points came on 3-point field goals. Brandon Lawley shot 6-7 from the floor and scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half. Seth Cornell and Armen Henderson each scored a career best 12 points while Dhimitri Luarasi was a perfect 4-4 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line. Mike Gray added nine points as all 14 Mountaineers who played scored.

Craig Flint led Penn College (2-6) with 13 points followed by Tom Little with 12 points and Joe Simon with 10.

Mansfield improves to 6-1 on the season and will break for finals with the next scheduled game at home against Bowie State on Dec. 13.
