For Immediate Release: Luarasi scores career high but Mansfield falls to Kutztown 88-75

Dhimitri Luarasi scored a career high 24 points but it wouldn’t be enough as Mansfield fell to Kutztown 88-75 in the PSAC east conference opener last night at Kutztown.

Stephen Dennis scored 27 points for Kutztown to lead all scorers.

Mansfield took the early lead on a layup by John Hampton and scored the first eight points of the game and held Kutztown scoreless for the first six minutes of the game.

Kutztown tied the game at 10 on a jumper by Kevin Hafera but Mansfield quickly retook the leader with a jumper by Luarasi.

Kutztown went on a 16-0 run toward the end of the first half that was finally ended with a three-pointer by Luarasi to give the Golden Bears a 40-27 halftime edge.

Kutztown stretched the lead to as many as 19 points early in the second half.

Mansfield slowly began to cut the lead and got it under 10 with a three-pointer by Luarasi.

Kutztown went on a 7-2 run to push their lead back to 13 points.

Mansfield got the lead under 10 one last time on a layup by Hampton but got no closer as Kutztown pulled away.

Chris Greene finished with 18 points for Mansfield while Hampton added 11 and Brandon Lawley pulled down 11 rebounds.
