FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Pitt-Johnstown Edges Mansfield in OT – Chris Greene Scores Career Best 29 points for Mounties

MANSFIELD – Chris Greene scored a career high 29 points but Quinton Davis hit three 3-pointers in overtime to lead Pitt-Johnstown to an 86-82 win over Mansfield in a non-conference game at Decker Gymnasium Wednesday night.

 “The 3’s in overtime killed us,” said head coach Rich Miller. “We played hard and put ourselves in a position to win the game but we just couldn’t overcome those 3-pointers in overtime.”

John Hampton’s jumper with just over a minute to play in regulation sent the game into overtime at 72-72. Hampton gave the Mountaineers a 76-74 lead in the first thirty seconds of overtime before Pitt-Johnstown’s Davis buried three straight 3’s for an 85-80 lead with 2:32 remaining.

Mansfield cut the lead to 85-82 on a jumper by Terrance Williams with just under a minute to play and had a chance to tie the game with :11 left but Williams 3-pointer missed by inches and Pitt-Johnstown held on for the win.

Chris Greene had an outstanding night for the Mountaineers scoring a career high 29 points hitting 8-12 from the floor including 6-of-7 three-pointers. He also dished out six assists and recorded three steals in playing all 45 minutes.

John Hampton scored 17 points while Kevin Hill had 15 points and six rebounds. Terrance Williams added 10 points.

Chris Gilliam scored a game high 31 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown with Dwight Hines scoring 23 points and Quinton Davis 12.

The loss ends a four-game winning streak for the Mountaineers who fall to 6-11 on the season. Pitt-Johnstown improves to 13-6.

 

Mansfield travels to West Chester Saturday.
