FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s John Hampton Named PSAC East Player of the Week

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University standout John Hampton has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for his outstanding performance during the week ending 1/20/07.

Hampton helped the Mountaineers to a 2-0 mark during the week with wins over Kutztown and Cheyney.

The junior guard averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during the two game span connecting on 55.6% o his shots from the floor with six assists and two steals. Hampton scored a game-high 23 points in the win at Cheyney helping Mansfield to its first road win of the year.

For the season Hampton is averaging 14.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game with 49 assists, 30 steals and 12 blocked shots.

Mansfield is currently 6-10 on the season and in the midst of a four game winning streak. The Mountaineers are tied for second place in the PSAC East with a 2-1 conference mark.
