LOCK HAVEN – Terrance Williams led three Mounties in double figures with 19 points but missed a last second 3-point attempt as Mansfield fell short 68-65 at Lock Haven Tuesday night.

Things started on the right foot as Mansfield built a 4-0 lead out of the gates but Lock Haven responded quickly tying the score a 4-4 with 17:20 to play in the half.

Mansfield hung close to the Bald Eagles in the half despite cold shooting and foul trouble before Lock Haven broke it open with a 7-0 run to close the half with an 11 point lead at 37-26.

The second half seemed like a reversal of fate as the Mountaineers slowly chipped away at the lead behind senior leadership from Terrance Williams. Mansfield drew to within one point on a Chris Greene jumper making the score 47-46 with just over nine minutes to play.

Lock Haven built the lead to six again before John Hampton hit a 3-pointer to bring the Mounties back to within two at 56-54 with 6:06 to play.

The Bald Eagles would again rebuild their lead opening up a 66-59 lead with two minutes to play but the resilient Mounties fought back again. Chris Greene drove the length of the court for a layup in traffic to bring Mansfield back to within two points at 67-65 with three seconds to play.

Kranthi Senadhi was fouled with 2.5 seconds to play and made one of two free throws to put Lock Haven up by three with 2.5 on the clock.

Terrance Williams got a 3-point shot off as time expired but the ball rimmed out of the basket as the Mounties dropped their third straight.

Williams led the Mounties with 19 points and eight rebounds while John Hampton had 11 points before fouling out of the contest. Chris Greene added 10 points and Jovoun Webb had seven. Foul trouble was a killer for Mansfield as starters Kevin Hill, and John Hampton each fouled out of the game along with Jovoun Webb.
