FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Pick Up First Win of Season -- Williams Leads Five Mounties in Double Figures With 15 Points

MANSFIELD -- Terrance Williams led five Mounties in double figures with 15 points as Mansfield picked up it's first win of the season on Wednesday night with a 79-55 victory over the visiting Keystone College Giants.

"Obviously it was a good win for us," said head coach Rich Miller. "We struggled over the first two games shooting but did a very good job tonight communicating and moving the ball around to find the open man."

The Mountaineers started out on the right foot with a 6-0 run in the first two minutes. Keystone would battle back to take the lead 11-8 with just under 15:00 minutes to play in the first half before Mansfield regained the lead 12-11 on a layup by Terrance Williams with 13:06 to play. Mansfield continued on a 15-2 run to lead 23-13 with 10:00 minutes to play.

The Mountaineers would retain the lead for the remainder of the contest, increasing the lead to a maximum of 29 points in the second half.

Terrance Williams, a senior guard, led five Mountaineers in double figures with 15 points and four assists. John Hampton added 13 points while Kevin Hill chipped in 11. Jovoun Webb and Chris Pender each had 10 points with Webb pulling in a team high seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers shot a season best 53.1% from the field after shooting 60.0% in the second half. Keystone was 40.9% from the floor. Mansfield held the rebounding advantage at 42-33.

The Mountaineers improve to 1-2 on the season while Keystone falls to 1-3.

Mansfield is back in action on Saturday, December 2nd, when they kick off the PSAC Crossover schedule at home against Clarion University at 3:00pm at Decker Gymnasium. Mansfield will host IUP on Sunday, December 3rd at 3:00 pm as well.
