RELEASE DATE: 1/29/07 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie Men Falter In Second Half – Drop 76-58 Decision at East Stroudsburg EAST STROUDSBURG — After a strong first half, the Mountaineers faltered in the second half as East Stroudsburg ran away from Mansfield 76-58 in a PSAC East contest at ESU on Monday evening. Mansfield led 29-23 at the half but East Stroudsburg opened the second half with an 11-0 run to steal the momentum and run away with the contest after outscoring the Mountaineers 53-29 in the half. Early 3-pointers from Kevin Hill and Terrance Williams took the Mountaineers out to an 8-2 advantage in the first half and Mansfield would open up as much as a 10 point advantage when Williams hit another three at the 7:43 mark to make the score 23-13. East Stroudsburg closed the half on a 10-6 run to trail 29-23 at the half but would open the second half with a fierce 11-0 run en route to scoring 53 second half points. The Warriors were unstoppable in the second half, shooting an incredible 17-of-25 (68.0%) from the field while Mansfield struggled shooting just 30.4% from the field. John Hampton led the Mountaineers with 16 points while Terrance Williams added 15. Jovoun Webb added 11 points and seven rebounds. ESU was led by Jimmy Evans who scored a game-high 19 points while Josh Wentz added 16 points for the Warriors. East Stroudsburg shot 52.2% from the floor for the contest while Mansfield shot 33.3% from the field. Mansfield hit 6-of-15 3-pointers in the first half but only 2-of-10 in the second half while ESU missed all six attempts in the first half and converted 4-of-7 in the second. With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to 6-13 overall and drop to 2-3 in PSAC East conference play while East Stroudsburg improves to The Mounties are back in action on Wednesday evening when they host Bloomsburg University in a PSAC East contest at Decker Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm following the women’s game at 5:30.
