RELEASE DATE: 10/19/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield Men’s Basketball Open Season with Exhibition Games at Binghamton and Bucknell
The Mountaineers will travel to Binghamton for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Oct. 31 and Bucknell on Nov. 4. also at 7 p.m. “It’s a great opportunity for our program and our players,” said second-year head coach Rich Miller. “After having veteran teams each of the last four years, we’re going to be pretty young this season. Beside giving us the opportunity to play Division I teams in Division I facilities, the games allow us to see what we have and then gives us two weeks to make adjustments before the start of the regular season.” It marks the second straight season has played Binghamton in an exhibition game and the first time at Bucknell. “It will be special to travel to Bucknell,” said Miller of his alma mater. “They certainly have elevated their program into the national spotlight in the last couple of years and our guys are looking forward to going there.” The Mountaineers return five players who appeared in games for last season’s PSAC Final Four squad including starters Terrance Williams (8.0 ppg), John Hampton (7.1 ppg) and Chris Greene (6.8 ppg, 88 assists) along with Kevin Hill who saw action in 24 games. Mansfield also features three freshmen red-shirts and six newcomers. The Mountaineers, who have reached the PSAC playoff in each of the last four seasons, open the regular season at Lemoyne College on Nov. 18.

Binghamton University and Bucknell University.
