FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Men’s Basketball Previews Season in Exhibition Game at Binghamton University Friday

MANSFIELD – Fans will get a chance to preview the 2005-06 Mansfield University men’s basketball team this Friday (11/05) when they travel to Binghamton University to play the NCAA Division I Bearcats in an exhibition game.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the new Events Center on the Binghamton University campus. The game will also be broadcast live on WNTE 89.5 FM and over the internet at www.mansfield.edu.

The Mountaineers are the defending PSAC East Champions after posting a 18-11 record last season. They will be under the direction of first year head coach Rich Miller who served as assistant coach for six years under Vince Alexander.

Alexander took the head coaching position at South Carolina-Aiken at the end of last season and Miller was named his replacement in June.

The Mountaineers return three starters from last year’s team including preseason All-PSAC East pick Carlos Collazo. Starting guards Brandon DeShields and David Hoops also return  after averaging 13.1 and 12.4 points respectively.

NCAA Division I Binghamton posted a 12-17 in 2005 and returns four starters.

The Mountaineers open the regular season on Nov. 22 when they host Keystone College.
