Mountie Men Fall From PSAC East Unbeaten Ranks in 87-69 Loss at East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg – Brandon DeShields recorded a double-double with a game high 22 points and 10 rebounds, but the Mansfield University men’s basketball team would suffer its first PSAC East defeat in a 87-69 loss at East Stroudsburg Wednesday night.

East Stroudsburg used a  13-0 run over the last five minutes of  the first half to built a 44-31 advantage and the Mountaineers would be able to pull to no closer than nine points in the second half in suffering their first PSAC East loss of the season.

The game was marred by a combined 51 foul resulting in 49 free throws. Three of the nine suited players for Mansfield fouled out of the game including big men Carlos Collazo and Justin Kress who left the game with nine minutes to play.

John Hampton came off the bench to score 19 points while freshman Chris Greene had 10.

Naveen Mohiuddin topped four ESU players in double figures with 20 points with Danny Hargrove scoring 16 and Darron Bradley 14.

East Stroudsburg takes over sole possession of first place in the PSAC East with a 5-0 mark while improving to 14-6 overall. Mansfield falls to second the the PSAC East at 4-1 and 9-9 overall.
